There are a lot of good muscle building tips and that’s why there is such a thing as too much training. You need to give your body the time it needs to recuperate from the physical demands of your workouts. Overtaxing your body's recuperative abilities will stop growth cold. Listen to the signals your body sends you, and never exercise a bodypart until it has not been sore for at least a day. Respect your body's ability to heal itself instead of looking for other ways to get bigger muscles.

Athletes enjoy their training. Going to the gym is one of the highlights of their day, a time when they can make progress toward their goal of getting bigger and stronger. Taking time off is considered a negative. Our society constantly reinforces this mentality with its more-is-better philosophy. Athletes may feel that if some training is good, more must be better. Unfortunately, that's not how it works. If you don't give your body the time it needs to fully recuperate, your muscles will not grow. When it comes to building your body, there is such a thing as too much.

Only you can determine the frequency and duration of training that is right for you. No one system works for everyone because individual bodies vary. There are also individual differences in the stress levels produced by work and emotional relationships. This stress often prolongs the recuperation process by releasing catabolic hormones. Of course, it is essential to get the raw materials that your body needs for muscular growth. However, proper nutrition is not enough. You can eat all the protein you want and get plenty of vitamins and minerals, but without adequate recuperation your muscle development will be stuck in neutral even you try other ways to get bigger muscles.
"You need to respect your body's ability to heal," says exercise physiologist Karl List. "Step back every once in a while to gain perspective on your training. Your diet, work stress and amount of rest all impact the quality of your workouts. Things change, so maintain an open mind. Get plenty of rest and tailor your exercise program to your body's recuperation potential."

By and large, when you are at the gym you should train at peak intensity. Your body will just be repeating something it has done many times before. If you take a few days off, you will be much better. This increased intensity will help to pack on more mass.
